Dr. Denny Woodruff
Denny Woodruff graduated from ISU in 1974 and joined Avondale, a mixed animal practice for 10 years. He and his partner then built a 2nd hospital in Des Moines and Dr. Woodruff took over ownership of Avondale Animal Hospital as a small animal-only hospital. Under Dr. Woodruff's leadership, the hospital went thru 4 major additions and is currently a 19,000 SF facility with 8 doctors and a team of 50 staff members. Avondale was AAHA certified in 1993. The practice is a Fear Free Practice and has a separate Cats only Facility (Gold level Feline Friendly practice) and Pet Resort with "vacation suites", Doggy Daycare facilities, and a grooming department. Avondale's doctors have special interests and certifications in orthopedics, rehabilitation, feline medicine, acupuncture, and chiropractic. Dr. Woodruff believes that Veterinary Medicine is the best of the medical professions and that it is a privilege to work with clients who consider their pets as family members. Dr. Woodruff sold Avondale to VCA in 2016 but continues to provide orthopedic surgical services 2 days weekly.
